1.1 Temporary transfers are represented on the rota page in two ways. They are designed to clearly highlight whether a shift will have an impact on the rota and an implication on costs.
Home site
2.1 Shifts inputted in the away site will be highlighted in green. These shifts will have no effect on that employee’s home site costs. This is represented in the cost column in the image below.
Away site
3.1 Once the transferred employee is added to the rota you can input their shifts. Shifts from that employee’s home site are highlighted in red. This has no effect on the away sites costs.
Salaried pot vs weighted transfers
4.1 Salaried members of staff have their costs broken down across sites either by a salaried pot or weighted difference.
Salaried pot
10 hours £100 £10 per hour
5.1 Each salaried employee is paid a fixed amount per week, £100 per week, therefore their pot is £100.
5.2 Even if that site works for more than their salaried hours you can never go over the salaried pot i.e. in this example £100
5.3 When an employee is transferred, the away site is the first to be charged from the pot and the home site is responsible to pay what is left from the pot.
Weighted transfer
10 hours £100 £10 per hour
6.1 Similarly, employee only receives the £100 salaried to him/her. However, this time the hourly rate is calculated based on the total hours worked across both sites.2.2 In the case 8+6=14 hours
- In the case 8+6=14 hours
- 100/14 = £7.14 per hour
- Site B (charged first): 8 x £7.14 = £57
- Site A: £100-£57 = £43
Rota page adjustments
7.1 When a temporary transfer is created it also creates a new area.
7.2 This new area is highlighted as ‘Transfers’.
7.3 It is a quick and easy method of adding shifts at the home site for the away site.
Key to Note.
When this area is created the transferred employee within the area has mirrored costs and these are not duplicated.
Certain aspects must remain the same
8.1 To be able to successfully transfer an employee between sites it is key to remember that employees must have the same position across sites.
8.2 If this isn’t the case, you will be UNABLE to transfer that employee.
8.3 If that position isn’t set up at site level, you will need to notify your Catton Account Manager to create that position.
