When creating an Employee within S4labour you have several Pay types to choose from this article is FAQ's relating to Pay types and terms in S4labour
Q. What are the Pay types options in S4labour, and what are the differences
A.
Hourly - Hourly rate should be entered. Contracted hours entered or set to 0, contracted days to be set to 0, and holiday if statuary holiday entitlement enter 28 days if company-specific enter the total annual holiday entitlement if the hourly paid employee was full time.
Salary - Annual Salary should be entered. (for additional roles the rate of pay should be 0). Contracted hours to be set as per contract, contracted days set as per contract and holiday if statutory this would be 28 days for employees contracted to 5 days, if the contracted days are different the holiday should be pro-rata. Please feel free to run any salary set ups passed your account manager to best advise.
Daily - Daily wage should be entered, used for anyone who earns a day rate no matter the hours worked that day.
Weekly - Weekly rate should be entered, on the weekly pay type you can select to pay the employee overtime which would be calculated Hours / Weekly rate to work out and hourly rate this would then drop into Special pay and subject to no holiday accrual.
Apprentice - This is an hourly pay type. As the NMW is lower for those on apprentices this will allow you to put in a lower rate.
Q. When setting up a part-time Salary employee what should I enter?
A. You should enter the terms of their contract so as an example full time employee £30,000, 45 hours, 5 days a week, 28 days holiday. Part-time employee e.g £20,000, 30 Hours, 4 days, 22.4 or what their contract states.
Q. Holiday and pay types
A. Holidays work differently depending on the pay type of the employee. For Hourly pay types so hourly and apprentice holiday is calculated for every hour they work if statutory holiday entitlement this works out to be 12.07% per hour. For all other pay types, salary, daily, weekly holiday is accused as time progresses so each week gaining a week's worth of accrual an example of this is 28 days annual leave entitlement a year each week that passes the employee will accrue 0.54 days of holiday If you want to learn more about the way S4labour handles holiday you can check out the following guide Holiday Accrual Explained
